Resume
I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where I teach and write on political economy, historical sociology, and the intellectual history of capitalism.
My research investigates the political economy of capitalist development and transformation in Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on the post-communist transitions of the Baltic states. I examine how the demise of historical communism and the subsequent rise of neoliberalism reshaped political institutions, social structures, and economic relations across East-Central Europe and the former Soviet Union. My work also explores the intellectual and ideological foundations of these reforms, as well as the forms of resistance and alternative visions of political economy that emerged in response. More broadly, my scholarship engages with debates in historical materialism and seeks to situate the region within the wider dynamics of global capitalist transformation.
My publications—including articles, book reviews, and commentaries—have appeared in Globalizations, The Economic and Labour Relations Review, Global Political Economy, Thesis Eleven, Journal of Baltic Studies, Europe-Asia Studies, Historical Materialism, Political Studies Review, Progress in Political Economy, Jacobin, and other outlets that bridge scholarly and public discussions on Eastern European politics and global political economy.
I serve as an Associate Editor of Global Political Economy and sit on the editorial board of Alternatives. I am also an active member of the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies.
